Tail shapes, colours and species

Betta fish types

A betta's name usually stacks three things: its colour pattern, its tail shape and how long its fins are. A Koi Double Tail Plakat is a koi-patterned fish with two tail lobes and short fins. This chart sorts every betta we keep by tail shape, explains what each name means and links each fish to its own page.

The photos show what each variety looks like. Every fish is an individual, so colour and fins vary from fish to fish, and a breeder’s name describes the look rather than proving a pedigree.
