Why is my nerite snail not moving?

Nerites can remain still for long periods and some move above the waterline. Check temperature and tested water quality, make sure the aquarium offers suitable natural grazing, and confirm the snail is not being harassed. What algae do nerite snails eat, and will they lay eggs?

Nerites graze biofilm, diatoms and some algae from hard surfaces, but results depend on the species, aquarium and available growth.
