Discus (Symphysodon spp.) are the king of the freshwater aquarium, and they're a fish we ship with extra care: extended bagging, extra heat packs outside summer, and dispatch only on Wednesday for Thursday delivery so a delivery never spans a weekend.
We stock young brown and blue discus from around £12 alongside named colour strains — Red Alenquer, Pigeon Blood and seasonal imports — at £30+. Discus are a step up in difficulty: warm water (27-30°C), excellent water quality and a group of five or more in 200+ litres. Frequently asked questions
They're demanding rather than impossible: stable 27-30°C water, low nitrates (generous weekly water changes), soft-to-medium hardness and a mature tank. They're not a first-fish choice, but a keeper with one successful community tank behind them can absolutely move up to discus.
