Blue Rim Plakat Male Betta (Betta splendens) XL
24–30°C · pH 6–7.5 · 20L

SuperDelta Butterfly male betta, ~7 cm with banded two-zone fins. Semi-aggressive. 24–28°C, pH 6–8, 20-litre minimum.
Adult size is the maximum length this species reaches at full maturity (scientific sources). The livestock you receive will be younger and smaller — pick a size variant above for the actual shipping size. Photos are AI-enhanced, so the animal may show subtle colour or marking differences.

The betta fish is one of the most popular and most misunderstood freshwater species. This guide covers everything from proper tank size to the truth about tank mates.
Maintain these water conditions for optimal health and vibrant colors
Butterfly patterning splits each fin into bands — colour at the body fading or switching to a contrasting outer band toward the edge — and on a SuperDelta male the broad, near-halfmoon tail gives those bands maximum room to read. This is a 7 cm fish whose fins look deliberately designed, the banding tracing the sweep of the SuperDelta spread every time he turns.
The record pairs moderate care with a semi-aggressive temperament and an unusually wide pH tolerance of 6 to 8 — about as adaptable to UK water chemistry as Betta splendens gets. Housing guidance starts at best kept alone: if company is attempted, only very peaceful, non-nippy species in a larger, heavily planted tank, with small snails acceptable and shrimp or small fish at risk of being eaten or stressed. Excluded are other male bettas, fin-nippers such as tiger barbs, aggressive or highly territorial fish, large predators, and fast boisterous tank mates that outcompete him. He needs 20 litres minimum at 24–28 °C with hardness 1–15 dGH, eats as a carnivore, holds the top region of the tank, and turns more territorial when breeding condition develops.
That 6–8 pH window is the standout figure on his record — wide enough that hard-water keepers who normally pre-treat for bettas can skip the chemistry entirely and concentrate on the two things butterfly males actually need: stable warmth in the 24–28 °C band and calm water for the banded finnage. Feed a varied carnivore diet to keep the band contrast sharp; the boundary between inner and outer fin colour blurs first when condition drops, which makes it a useful weekly checkpoint. House him in 20 litres or more with surface resting spots, snails as default company, and the record's heavily-planted-tank condition met before any cautious experiment with tank mates begins.
Banded butterfly fins are graded on contrast, and we only list males whose banding is clearly defined. Each ships insulated by licensed live-animal courier with our live arrival guarantee across the UK.
