The classic bronze cory: a hardy, sociable bottom-dweller
The bronze corydoras (Corydoras aeneus) is a small armoured catfish from South America and one of the most popular community fish. It has a metallic bronze-green body, pinkish-tan underside and normal-length fins, and spends the day sifting the substrate in groups. A long-finned form is sold as a separate listing.
Corydoras are social: keep at least four to six together.

What you receive
Choose the size, then the quantity: one quantity is one live bronze cory, unsexed. Order at least four to six for a group.
Aquarium and water
A mature aquarium of about 72 litres (base 80 × 30 cm) or more, with soft sand or smooth fine gravel so the barbels are not damaged, plants and shaded areas. Keep 21–27°C, pH 6.0–8.0 and 2–15 dGH (Seriously Fish), with regular partial water changes.
Feeding
Feed sinking pellets or wafers once or twice a day, with frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp and Daphnia a few times a week; make sure food reaches the bottom.
Tank mates and behaviour
Peaceful with almost any small community fish — tetras, rasboras, livebearers and dwarf cichlids. Avoid large predatory fish and aggressive bottom-dwellers.
Follow the arrival sequence before releasing the fish
Tropical Fish Co’s delivery and Live Arrival Guarantee policy explains the packing and arrival procedure. Livestock is hand-bagged in pure oxygen and placed in an insulated poly box, with a heat pack when the weather calls for it. Someone must be at the address to receive the parcel because live animals cannot be left unattended.
- Receive the parcel in person and start filming before opening it. Show the parcel still sealed with the outer box visible.
- Open the parcel in one continuous take. Keep filming until the fish can be seen inside the sealed bag before anything is disturbed.
- Float the bag for 20–30 minutes so the temperature equalises slowly.
- Do not pour the bag water into the aquarium. Release the fish without adding transport water to the established system.
