The identity correction is anchored to Li, Konings and Stauffer's 2016 peer-reviewed description of Metriaclima usisyae in Zootaxa (DOI 10.11646/zootaxa.4168.2.9). That paper supports the accepted name, old trade-name bridge, type locality and diagnostic placement in Metriaclima. A later peer-reviewed geographical study of elongatus-type mbuna provides additional context for why old trade groupings should not replace formal species identities.
