20–24°C · pH 6.5–7.5 · 45L

Small striped danio for planted nano aquariums, best kept in a calm group with fine foods and stable cooler tropical water.
Adult size is the maximum length this species reaches at full maturity (scientific sources). The livestock you receive will be younger and smaller — pick a size variant above for the actual shipping size. Photos are AI-enhanced, so the animal may show subtle colour or marking differences.

Emerald Dwarf Danio (Danio erythromicron) is a small striped danio from Myanmar's Lake Inle region. It is often discussed beside Celestial Pearl Danio, but it is a different species and should not be described as Danio margaritatus. In a planted aquarium it shows blue-green body bars, orange-red fin detail and active but shy group behaviour.
| Scientific name | Danio erythromicron |
|---|---|
| Adult size | 2-3 cm |
| Minimum aquarium | 45 litres or more for a group |

Keep a group of eight or more in a mature planted aquarium with moss, fine-leaved plants and open swimming gaps. They are small and easily intimidated, so avoid boisterous tank mates and very strong flow.
Use tiny pellets, crushed flake, daphnia, cyclops, baby brine shrimp and other fine foods. Small frequent feeds work better than large portions.
Choose other peaceful nano fish. Useful comparisons include Celestial Pearl Danio, Neon Green Rasbora, Glowlight Rasbora, Glowlight Danio and Gold White Cloud Mountain Minnow.
Order when the tank is mature, covered and stable, with gentle acclimation ready for a small danio. Livestock is packed for dispatch across the UK and sent by a licensed live-animal courier where live-animal shipping applies. Livestock orders are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee.
