Gold African Dwarf Frog (Hymenochirus sp. "Gold") is the golden colour form of the familiar fully aquatic African Dwarf Frog. It has the same gentle behaviour and small adult size, but the lighter colour makes it easier to spot among plants and dark substrate. Use a mature heated aquarium with gentle filtration, smooth substrate and resting points near the surface. The gold form is still an air-breathing aquatic frog, so avoid very deep or high-flow layouts. Stable water matters more than chasing a single perfect number.
Feed small meaty sinking foods such as frog pellets, frozen bloodworm, daphnia and brine shrimp. These frogs do not compete well with fast fish, so targeted feeding is part of normal care. A gently rounded body and steady feeding response are good signs.
Gold African Dwarf Frogs can live with the standard African Dwarf Frog and similar calm Hymenochirus frogs such as Hymenochirus curtipes gold. Avoid larger clawed frogs, aggressive fish and any tank mate that will dominate feeding time. A small species group is often the easiest setup.
