Endler's livebearer is a small, social, rapidly reproducing Venezuelan fish. Start with a mature filtered aquarium, a deliberate sex and population plan, stable tested medium-hard water, open swimming room and cover. The Santa Maria is a domestic Endler-type strain — a cross between the Endler (Poecilia wingei) and the guppy (Poecilia reticulata), not a pure wild Endler. Males are small and brightly coloured; females are plainer and larger.

What you receive
One quantity is one live Santa Maria Endler of about 2–3 cm, unsexed — not a pack and not guaranteed male. Set the quantity to the number of fish you want; they are best kept as a small group.
Aquarium and water
A mature, planted aquarium with gentle flow suits a small group; a specialist benchmark is about 76 litres for six to nine Endlers. Keep 22–28°C (23–26°C is ideal), pH 7.0–8.2 and 8–20 dGH, with regular partial water changes.
Feeding
Feed fine flake or micro-pellets with suitably small frozen or live foods in rotation, in small amounts once or twice a day.
Tank mates and behaviour
Peaceful and active; males display and may briefly chase. Good with other small peaceful fish and shrimp. They cross freely with guppies and Endlers, so keep them apart from pure strains if that matters.
Follow the arrival sequence before releasing the fish
Tropical Fish Co’s delivery and Live Arrival Guarantee policy explains the packing and arrival procedure. Livestock is hand-bagged in pure oxygen and placed in an insulated poly box, with a heat pack when the weather calls for it. Someone must be at the address to receive the parcel because live animals cannot be left unattended.
- Receive the parcel in person and start filming before opening it. Show the parcel still sealed with the outer box visible.
- Open the parcel in one continuous take. Keep filming until the fish can be seen inside the sealed bag before anything is disturbed.
- Float the bag for 20–30 minutes so the temperature equalises slowly.
- Do not pour the bag water into the aquarium. Release the fish without adding transport water to the established system.
