Blue Velvet Shrimp is a selectively bred blue colour form of Neocaridina davidi, historically sold under older Neocaridina heteropoda naming. Keep it as a planted-tank colony shrimp with stable water.
Use a mature planted tank with moss, leaf litter, biofilm and a sponge or covered filter intake. Avoid newly cycled tanks and sudden mineral swings.
Blue Velvet Shrimp graze on biofilm and algae. Supplement lightly with shrimp pellets, powdered foods for young shrimp and blanched vegetables.
Keep with snails, Otocinclus and very small peaceful fish only. Avoid predators, cichlids, puffers, crayfish and copper medication.
