Neon Dwarf Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia praecox) is a bright, active rainbowfish from the Mamberamo River region. It suits planted community aquariums with open swimming space and a proper group.
Provide a mature planted aquarium with open midwater swimming room, moderate flow and a secure lid. Floating or tall plants help colour and confidence while leaving room for active swimming.
Feed flakes, micro pellets and small frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia and mosquito larvae. Variety helps males show stronger colour.
Keep with peaceful tetras, rasboras, Corydoras, small rainbowfish and other calm community fish. Avoid large predators and fin nippers.
