Help with your choice

Pearl, Celestial Pearl and Emerald are different fish

Pearl Danio is Brachydanio albolineatus. Celestial Pearl Danio is Danio margaritatus, also called Galaxy Rasbora; Emerald Dwarf Danio is Danio erythromicron, also sold as Emerald Dwarf Rasbora. Check the full name when comparing offers. The listing named Microrasbora hybrid is sold as a cross between the latter two, not as either pure species. Keep breeding groups separate if preserving species identity matters to you. The Hikari offer follows the supplier’s current trade name. Its older Blue Moon photos are being checked; ask for a current stock photo before ordering it.

Choose swimming space and companions before colour

Giant Danio and the orange malabaricus form need a longer, more spacious aquarium than the tiny planted-tank danios. The size in a selector is the size supplied, not the eventual adult size. Celestial Pearl and Emerald Dwarf Danios need dense cover and a chance to feed without boisterous fish taking everything. Compare the aquarium footprint as well as litres; a tall narrow tank does not provide the same swimming room as a long one.

Discuss your tank and shortlist
Can they live without a heater?

Some danios suit an unheated indoor aquarium, but the name alone is not enough. Measure the water temperature overnight and in winter, then compare it with the exact species guidance. A cool room may still need a heater to prevent temperatures falling too far. If you meant White Cloud Mountain Minnows, they have their own Tanichthys collection and care requirements.

Count fish, not just packs

Individual offers supply one fish per quantity selected; a named six- or ten-fish pack supplies that many fish per pack. Two six-fish packs therefore mean twelve fish. A pack size or quantity discount does not define a suitable social group. Check the species group advice and fish already in your aquarium before ordering, and allow space for the whole group as it grows.
