Standard, gold and longfin White Clouds are forms of Tanichthys albonubes. Choose the appearance you prefer while allowing for natural variation; protect long fins from nipping companions. Tanichthys micagemmae, the Vietnamese minnow, is a separate, smaller species with its own water guidance and group needs. A photograph showing several fish does not define the sale unit.
Read the Vietnamese minnow's requirementsMeasure the aquarium through cold nights and warm afternoons. White Clouds suit cooler conditions; a permanently warm tropical community may be unsuitable even if its fish are peaceful. Vietnamese minnows have separate guidance. Compare the exact listing with your measured temperature, pH and hardness before deciding whether heating or summer heat management is needed. An unheated tank still needs an established filter.
Check standard White Cloud careIndividual listings supply one fish per quantity; the group offers state five, six or ten. For a new display, the species profiles favour ten or more, with enough space and filtration for the whole group. Smaller packs can add to existing fish. Standard, gold and longfin White Clouds share a species; Vietnamese minnows need their own group. Pack size and discount thresholds do not prove that an aquarium is suitable.
Discuss an existing group or aquariumCompare the base dimensions as well as litres. White Cloud species guidance uses a 60 × 30 cm base; the smaller Vietnamese minnow profile uses 45 × 30 cm. Keep open swimming lanes beside planted cover and assess any companions separately. Avoid goldfish, which can swallow small minnows as they grow. Use the care figures on each offer; a shared category or filter match is not a compatibility guarantee.
