Care and setup
Use a mature, well-filtered aquarium with open swimming space, plants around the edges and stable hard water. Balloon mollies still need room; the rounded body shape should not be used as a reason to keep them in tiny tanks. Keep groups balanced, with more females than males if both sexes are present.
Mollies prefer clean, mineral-rich water. They are usually straightforward when the water suits them, but they can struggle in soft acidic aquariums or in tanks with unstable filtration.
Feeding
Feed a varied omnivore diet with a meaningful plant component. Quality flakes, small pellets, algae wafers, blanched greens, daphnia and brine shrimp all suit this fish. Avoid heavy protein-only feeding, which can lead to poor condition in livebearers.
