Tropical Pro Defence Granules S

Tropical Pro Defence Granules S are slowly sinking probiotic granules for young fish and small adult ornamental fish. Tropical currently specifies the Size S granule at approximately 1–2 mm, so this page has been corrected from the older 0.5–1.0 mm wording.

How to feed

Tropical recommends several small portions during the day. Feed only what the fish consume promptly, spreading food where necessary so shy or slower fish are not excluded.

Match particle size to the mouth size of the fish. If the 1–2 mm granule is too large for very small fry, use an appropriately finer food rather than crushing inconsistent pieces into the aquarium.

Manufacturer formulation

The current Size S formula includes fish and fish derivatives, vegetable protein extracts, vegetable derivatives including red pepper extract, molluscs and crustaceans, cereals, algae including Spirulina platensis, yeasts including beta-glucan, oils and fats, minerals and the probiotic culture.

The manufacturer lists 48.5% crude protein, 7% crude oils and fats, 3% crude fibre and 8% moisture for Size S. These are formulation details, not a claim that the food prevents or treats disease.
