A small Geosesarma vampire crab with red-claw colour, best kept in a humid planted paludarium with mostly land, shallow freshwater and secure cover.
Adult size is the maximum length this species reaches at full maturity (scientific sources). The livestock you receive will be younger and smaller — pick a size variant above for the actual shipping size. Photos are AI-enhanced, so the animal may show subtle colour or marking differences.

Midnight Red Claw Vampire Crab is the clean trade name for this Geosesarma sp. midnight red claw listing. It is a small, semi-terrestrial crab for keepers who want a planted paludarium rather than a normal fish tank. The attraction is the contrast: a compact body, dark shell tones and red-claw colour that shows best against leaf litter, cork bark, moss and shaded planting.
This is not a fully aquatic crab. Build the enclosure around damp land first, then add a shallow freshwater area that the crab can enter and leave easily. A secure lid is essential because Geosesarma crabs climb well and will explore any gap. Keep the air warm and humid, avoid deep water, and give the crab several tight hides so it can settle after delivery.
A good setup has more land than water. Use moisture-holding substrate, leaf litter, cork bark, roots, smooth stones and live or artificial plants to create separate routes and hiding places. The water area should be shallow, clean and easy to climb out of; sponge, stone ramps or textured wood help prevent trapping. For one crab or a carefully planned pair, aim for at least 45 litres with more floor area whenever possible.
Stable conditions matter more than chasing exact numbers. Keep the air humid, the water clean and mineralised, and the temperature in the warm tropical range. Avoid copper-based treatments, pesticide-contaminated decor and sharp rocks that could damage legs during a moult.
Midnight Red Claw Vampire Crab is an omnivore. Offer a varied evening diet of quality crab or shrimp pellets, small invertebrate foods, algae wafers, blanched vegetables and occasional protein such as frozen bloodworm or small meaty foods. Remove leftovers the next morning so the humid enclosure stays clean. A small calcium source such as mineral blocks, cuttlefish bone or calcium-rich invertebrate food helps support moulting.
Keep this crab as a species-focused display. It is not suitable for a community aquarium with fish, shrimp or snails, and it should not be mixed with larger crabs or unrelated crab species. Multiple Geosesarma can work only when the enclosure is large, heavily structured and supplied with several hides and feeding spots. If you are unsure, a single specimen is the safest starting point.
