Two trumpet-snail names, with different species labels
The Malaysian offer is Melanoides tuberculata. Granifera also appears under the name Tarebia granifera in current references. Keep the full label when comparing care and breeding information rather than treating the shared trumpet-snail shape as proof they are the same species.
Compare aquarium snail choicesPlan for more than a clean-up role
Trumpet snails need a suitable ongoing food supply and compatible companions. They can reproduce in freshwater, so consider future numbers and avoid excess food building up in the substrate. Review maintenance rather than expecting snails to make waste disappear, and never release aquarium animals into outdoor waters.
