Maintain these water conditions for optimal health and vibrant colors
Black Ghost Knifefish is a South American weakly electric knifefish with a velvet-black body, white tail markings and graceful nocturnal movement. It is not an eel, and it should be planned as a large long-lived oddball rather than a small community novelty.
Provide a mature spacious aquarium with subdued lighting, driftwood, caves or tubes, gentle open swimming space and excellent water quality. Feed after lights dim if shy, and offer varied meaty frozen and sinking foods.
Best with peaceful tank mates that are too large to swallow and calm enough not to harass it. Avoid tiny fish, shrimp, fin nippers, aggressive cichlids and multiple electric knifefish unless the aquarium is exceptionally large.
Eligible livestock orders are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee. Livestock is packed for licensed live-animal courier travel.
